Scientist, Writer, Climber

I am a science writer based in North Wales. I have a PhD in virology and spent several years researching vaccines for neglected tropical diseases and lecturing in immunology before I realised I like writing about science more than I like doing it myself.

I spend most of my spare time climbing rocks (pretty well), sewing (reasonably), photographing wildlife (badly) and reading a lot – mostly fantasy fiction and adventure and folk history non-fiction.

I love to write about all my interests and am currently trying to broaden my portfolio and write about my passions outside of science.
